What a wonderful few days it has been working in the studio on hard-shoe skills! Our teachers Chelsea Hoy, Katie Noonan, MacKenzie Kliesmet, and Shannon Kehoe have been so excited to get in the studio with these dancers to work on the rhythm, timing, and technique of hard-shoe dancing.
It takes years to master the different kinds of movements your legs and feet have to understand in order to clearly articulate the different sounds required to dance in hard-shoes. For this reason, we have utilized many new teaching techniques that were developed this summer to include in this workshop. Dancers have been learning drills, exercises, and steps that will help them excel as they continue in their performance and competition careers in the future!
Our teachers have had so much fun teaching dancers with all levels of experience, and can't wait to see how they continue to progress this year.
"There’s nothing more exciting for an Irish dancer than learning that you get to get to BE LOUD! Dancers left their first hardshoe workshop at the IAHC excited about making noise!"
- Chelsea Hoy
We are so excited to see how these skills will help dancers grow during the rest of the season!
